Quincy is located 9 miles southeast of downtown Boston and is nicknamed the "City of Presidents". It is the most populous of communities on the South Shore and has approximately 27 miles of coastline. The first commercial railroad was founded in Quincy to transport Quincy granite to Charlestown for the construction of the Bunker Hill Monument.
Linked to Boston by rapid transportation, Quincy now has some characteristics of a suburban bedroom community, including comfortable and pleasant neighborhoods, while retaining the earmarks of an urban center with its strong commercial and shopping areas.

As a coastal community,
Weymouth provides much in recreation activity.
